People who live and work in the Pleasant Prairie area expressed concern about recent violence after a 19-year-old was shot in a restaurant parking lot.

Pleasant Prairie Police said the deadly shooting happened about 8:45 p.m. Monday near 75th Street and 104th Avenue, an area typically busy with traffic and business. The shooting victim was identified as Khaled Alchaar of Pleasant Prairie. Police said Alchaar was taken to Froedert South Hospital, where he later died.

As of Tuesday afternoon, police said they were going through surveillance video and looking to identify a person of interest and possibly a vehicle involved.

This latest incident came less than two weeks after 15-year-old Kaylie Juga was shot and killed at her Kenosha home, less than 2 miles from Monday night's shooting. Juga's ex-boyfriend is accused of killing her.

The cases are separate, but people living in the area said the violence is unusual.

"This is a very quiet community. I just hope this isn’t a continuing problem," said Leslie Olano, who grew up in Kenosha.
