MILWAUKEE, WI - A Milwaukee mom said her children could be dead after multiple bullets pierced through their south side home overnight.

It happened Thursday just before 10:30 p.m. near 17th and Washington.

"It was like multiple bursts," Jose Diaz said. “This isn’t the wild wild west, this is Milwaukee."

Diaz said a stray bullet hit his house while multiple bullets pierced through the home of his niece, Erika Garza.

"When I look[ed] over here, that's when I [saw] that bullet hole over there and I panicked," Garza said. “It got to the point where I was just vomiting everywhere just because of the shock."

Garza’s children were in the family room sleeping on the floor when the bullets hit, but she said if they were positioned anywhere else in the room, they may have been killed.

“I almost lost two of my kids," Garza said. "I almost lost one of my cousins. That’s not something I would plan after mother’s day or before my daughter’s birthday."

Police said although several suspects fired shots into a least four homes, no one was injured.

At this time, there is no indication the homes hit were the targets of the gunfire, and no one is in custody.
