OCONOMOWOC — Oconomowoc is getting a ballpark!

On Tuesday, the city approved a plan to build a 2,500 seat baseball stadium featuring a 43,000 square foot indoor training center.

The new stadium will have a full turf field, allowing for many sports teams to practice almost year-round.

In addition to the field and the training facility, the stadium will offer a wide variety of different foods. The food and beverages are still in the planning stages but, according to a press release, they will feature fresh, local ingredients. More information on food is forthcoming.

The new space will be the home of a summer collegiate baseball team from a league that is yet to be announced. The team will include top prospects and athletes from all college divisions. This will allow young athletes to practice and play with wooden bats and prepare for professional play.

The area will not just be for sports, though. The stadium will also be used for fun events such as movies in the park, musical acts, family gatherings, and corporate outings. We can see a few graduation parties in this space's future as well.

Construction of this new ballpark is expected to begin in the late spring with an opening day goal of summer 2021. The new ballpark is set to be located west of Wisconsin Harley Davidson, on the southwest corner of I-94 and Highway 67.
