MILWAUKEE -- The City of Milwaukee is urging residents to check their home fire extinguishers after a recall was issued from a manufacturer.
Kidde has recalled the plastic handle and plastic push-button disposable fire extinguisher models.
The extinguishers become clogged or require excessive force to discharge, failing to activate during a fire emergency. There has been one death reported due to these issues, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
All fire extinguishers of this model should be replaced.
The recall does not include Kidde Professional or Badger branded fire extinguishers or those with metal handles or valve assemblies.
To ensure that you do not own a recalled fire extinguisher visit www.kidde.com/home/en/us/ and click "Product Safety Recall Notice," or call the Kidde product support number at 1-800-880-6788.
