Buildings evacuated in downtown Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE — UPDATE 12:00 P.M. - Milwaukee Fire Department said that residents are able to go back into their apartments and offices. A contractor nicked a line that caused the leak.

There are reports of a gas leak and power outages in downtown Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Fire Department said that gas is leaking into the sewers and multiple buildings are being evacuated.

There are no injuries.

There is also power outage affecting 1,337 people. We Energies said that around 9 a.m. a contractor struck an underground cable near Jackson and Juneau. Crews are working to restore power.
