Body-cam footage shows man shot by Milwaukee Police

MILWAUKEE — Body-cam video has been released of the officer-involved shooting where Jamel Dewayne Barnes was shot by Milwaukee Police on Aug. 14.

ShotSpotter indicated shots fired near 21st & Townsend. Nearby patrolling officers responded to the area.

Milwaukee Man Shot by Police Faces Numberous Charges

Officers Anthony Milone and Chad Boyack spotted a man walking with a gun and started a foot chase after Barnes. Officer Milone can be heard saying "he's got a gun!" on the body-cam footage.

Footage shows Barnes turn towards officers while holding a gun, as Officer Milone yells to see his hands.

Officer Milone shot at Barnes twice, knocking him to the ground. A subsequent two shots were fired as Barnes attempted to get up and flee again.

Barnes' injury was non-life threatening and the officer was uninjured.

A purple gun can be seen on the ground in the stills of the video. A loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol, cocaine, Fentanyl and over $1,000 cash was recovered from the scene.

Barnes, 29, was charged with intentionally pointing a firearm at a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of a narcotic drug, and four counts of bail jumping.
