BROOKFIELD -- It is hard enough for most of us to ski, but imagine doing it with no sight.

A blind Korean War Veteran was able to do just that for decades, through the help of an organization for the disabled.

Kevin Pasqua's father Joseph lost his sight from a disease he contracted while serving in the Korean War.

He felt a thrill the first time he stepped into ski's, thanks to the National Sports Center for the Disabled.
Joseph died from cancer in November. When funding suddenly pulled out from a major retailer, this family wondered what would happen to the beloved organization's ski programs.

That's when "Buy Joe Skis" fundraising effort launched online.

"100 percent of the donation goes towards equipment. All you gotta do is go to the website and pick the equipment you want to buy for somebody," said Kevin Pasqua, who created BuyJoeSkis.com.
About a dozen families travel from Wisconsin to Colorado every year to take part in the organization that serves people of all disabilities from around the globe.

The hope is to raise $20,000 annually to enable the NSCD to buy equipment for future athletes to use.
