Chief Alfonso Morales was sworn in Thursday morning at City Hall.
Morales walked into the Common Council chambers while a Mariachi band played music in the background.
The police chief said he is honored and humbled to serve the city he loves. He thanked members of the police department and his for sticking by his side.
Four members of the Fire and Police Commission voted to give Chief Morales a 4-year term Wednesday night. Two others voted no, and there was 1 abstention.
Morales said some of his main focuses for the City moving forward is bridging racial divides and tackling domestic violence.
