MILWAUKEE — Alderman Bob Donovan thanked Milwaukee residents for their response and support after the death of Milwaukee Police Officer Matthew Rittner.
In a news release, Donovan said the community's support and response was "truly amazing and inspiring."
"I am personally very proud of how Milwaukee citizens and the community have responded to this tragedy. I want to commend each and every one of the individuals who have paid their respects, who have saluted our fallen officer, and who have donated whatever they had to help," the statement read.
Donovan then encouraged the city to continue to show support and compassion for one another as well as thanking MPD for continuing to serve the community.
