Chrystul Kizer is out of jail after the Chicago Community Bond Fund paid her $400,000 bail, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department confirmed.

Kizer, 19, had been in the Kenosha County jail for nearly two years after allegedly killing the man who she says trafficked her.

Kizer was 16 when she met Randy Volar, 33. He is the man she is accused of killing and setting his home on fire.

In a Washington Post article, Kizer said she had sex with Volar multiple times, and he was trafficking her. She also said she killed him in self-defense.

Volar had been charged with child sex abuse before his death and was out on bail.

If convicted, Kizer could face up to life in prison.

This case is generating national attention. A Change.org petition has more than 957,000 signatures asking for the charges in Kizer's case to be dropped.
