MILWAUKEE — To continue the spirit of giving and to celebrate Kwanzaa, ‘We Got This’ handed out about a thousand toys to families in Milwaukee. The toys were donated by Kapco’s Kids2Kids. Every year Kids2Kids Toy Drive collects thousands of toys for kids in need. Founder of We Got This, Andre Ellis said it was a blessing to be on the receiving end of a large toy donation.

“It’s a blessing,” said Andre.

Each child got to pick out two items, Gwen Smith said seeing her children happy and excited felt like a second Christmas.
“Some parents couldn’t get their kids gifts for Christmas so to get toys free for the kids, is amazing,” said Gwen.

‘We Got This’ and Running Rebels partnered together to put on the event.

“It’s so we can continue to help our young people feel better especially with what we are dealing with in today's society,” said Victor Barnett Founder of Running Rebels.

As the children picked out their gifts, Andre said he hopes each child has a better understanding of Ujamaa, one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa.

“That's about economics and people coming together supporting together in the community to make sure everybody has something,” said Andre.
