An East Troy woman is the lucky winner of the $1.4 million Megabucks jackpot, the Wisconsin Lottery announcedWednesday.
Jessica Eickman can either receive the reward as $1.4 million in payments each year, or as $1.1 million in cash. She purchased the winning ticket at Frank's Piggly Wiggly in East Troy of Walworth County on Dec. 16, 2020.
Eickman told the Wisconsin Lottery that the win was "a very unexpected and wonderful gift" and that she was shocked she turned out to have the winning ticket. Eickman adds to the Lottery that she plans to keep working her job, and will use her winnings to save for retirement, as well as share with her daughter.
Another jackpot, the Jan. 6 $1 million Megabucks draw, has yet to be claimed. The winning ticket for that jackpot was purchased at Lisbon Express Inc., located at 7110 W. Lisbon Ave. in Milwaukee.
There were a total of three Megabucks jackpot winners in 2020: Eickman's in December; a $1.9 million annuity win on Sept. 5, claimed by a Neenah man; and a $10.7 million annuity win by a Merrillan man in April.
The odds of winning the Megabucks jackpot are 1 in 6,991,908, according to the Wisconsin Lottery. Megabucks drawings are Wednesday and Saturday.
Each set of two plays cost $1 per draw. Tickets must be purchased before 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday to be included in that day's drawing.
