FARGO, N.D. (AP) - U.S. Attorney Christopher Myers says a 29-year-old Milwaukee man has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor.
Myers says Tyrice Excell Akins pleaded guilty Friday to a three-count Indictment charging him with the sex trafficking charge, transportation of a minor and transportation to engage in prostitution. He also pleaded guilty to possession and distribution of heroin charges out of Wisconsin.
Authorities say the case came to the attention of law enforcement after the North Dakota Highway Patrol pulled over a rental vehicle in which a man was transporting a 17-year-old female from Milwaukee to Bismarck for the purpose of prostitution.
Myers says a subsequent investigation revealed that the man was provided narcotics by Akins in exchange for transporting women to various locations throughout the United States.
