WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. -- A 2-year-old boy died Thursday after being found unresponsive in Big Cedar Lake, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies, Lifestar Rescue, and the Slinger Fire Department were called to a home in the Township of West Bend just after 2:00 p.m. and took the child to St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend, where he later died.

Preliminary evidence suggests the child drowned, the sheriff's department says.

The Washington County Detective Bureau and the county Medical Examiner's Office are working together to determine the official cause of death.
