Two new cases of Elizabethkingia have been reported in Wisconsin.
Elizabethkingia are bacteria that are rarely reported to cause illness in humans and are uncommon colonizers of the respiratory tract, according to the Wisconsin Division of Public Health.
Officials said there are now 63 confirmed cases and four possible cases across the state.
The majority of patients affected are over 65-years-old and have a history at least one underlying serious illness.
The source of these infections is unknown at this time.
