The Milwaukee Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at an apartment building on the 800 block of N 25th St Saturday, Feb. 6 at approximately 3:55 a.m.

The fire began inside a single apartment in the multi-unit building.

Milwaukee police say a 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The American Red Cross is helping approximately 40 people who were displaced from the fire.

The fire department notes that there were no smoke detectors inside the unit that caught on fire.

This is a reminder to always have fully functional smoke detector inside your home at all times.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but police say it does not appear to be suspicious.
