WHITEFISH BAY -- An overnight armed robbery in Milwaukee ended with a police pursuit disrupting a quiet neighborhood in Whitefish Bay.

According to police, the robbery happened at about 1:12 AM in the 5500 block of N. 31st St. in Milwaukee, when suspects armed with a handgun approached a victim and demanded property. The suspects took the keys to the victim's vehicle and drove away from the scene.

“I just heard something hit something and looked out the window, there was also sirens,” Don Zien said.

Zien woke up Thursday morning to the aftermath of a carjacking turned police chase as officers spent much of the morning searching the area of N. Lake Drive and School Road in Whitefish Bay after one of the two suspects initially ran from police.

“I wanted to go out and check it out and they said don’t come out so they were obviously, it appeared there were armed people because the officers had the weapons drawn," Zien said.

According to police, after recognizing the stolen car at about 2:14 AM, District 5 officers initiated a chase in Whitefish Bay. Two juvenile suspects were taken into custody and a handgun was recovered. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
