WHITEFISH BAY — Whitefish Bay Village Board members will vote Thursday morning at a special meeting whether to pass a temporary ordinance requiring masks indoors in the village. The proposal was initially introduced at the board's regular meeting on July 13.

The ordinance would require anyone age five and older to wear masks in a building open to the public that is not otherwise maintaining a safe social distance of at least six-feet from all other persons at all times. It does not require anyone to wear a mask outdoors.

According to a release from the board, the temporary ordinance would carry a potential fine of $50 to $500 for any business that allows people not wearing masks in its building, and to any individual that refuses to comply.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting is being held via remote conference only. Members of the public may attend by logging on here.

The access code is 348-527-221. The phone number to log in is +1 (872) 240-3212.

Members of the public wishing to communicate to the Village Board should email manager@wfbvillage.org at least 12 hours prior to the meeting with “Message to Village Board” in the subject line.
