WAUPUN — This week, the Wisconsin National Guard tested 1,500 employees and inmates at the Waupun Correctional Institution. So far, 184 tests have come back positive.
Only half of the 1500 tests have come back with results, so the positive cases will likely go up.

1,181 of the tests were from inmates, with the remainder being employees of the facility.
This mass testing at Waupun Correctional Institution is a part of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections expansive testing initiative. This initiative has already tested 7,050 people across the state with 217 tests coming back positive.
The 184 tests from Waupun Correctional are the most recent addition to the total of 217.
Those who tested positive within the facility will be isolated and kept away from the general population. As numbers continue to rise at the facility, the department will continue to follow guidance from the CDC and Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
