The Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Department of Administration (DOA) have placed the West Allis Alternate Care Facility (ACF) in "mothball status" as of Feb. 15.
According to DOA, mothball status was chosen as officials are unsure about the end of the coronavirus pandemic.
For now, the ACF structure will remain in place at the Wisconsin State Fair grounds.

DOA and DHA will continue to monitor public health data and the state's health systems to determine when the facility could be decommissioned.
The ACF opened on Oct. 14 2020 and has had a total of 170 patients. There aren't any patients at the facility currently.
