A recent social gathering contributed to several new cases of coronavirus in Fond du Lac County, a local health official said.

The county announced receiving 21 new positive cases over the weekend in an update Monday. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Miller said that six of those cases are related to a weekend party.

"We received 21 new positive cases, bringing our total confirmed cases to 108. At least six are related to a gathering that occurred," Miller said.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced plans to loosen Safer at Home restrictions on Tuesday, however health officials remain concerned.

"Several cases we have identified recently are in gatherings of individuals at a party. There were people with symptoms at the party," Miller said.
