Catering company for Lambeau Field, Miller Park temporarily lays off over 1K workers

Pandemic "longer, more devastating than expected"

The catering company for Packers games at Lambeau Field and Brewers games at Miller Park says it has temporarily laid off about 1,300 employees.

In a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, the company says it furloughed a number of full-time and part-time associates beginning in March. Since the layoffs may last more than six months, the company notified labor officials to comply with the law.

Major League Baseball will begin games with no fans and the National Football League faces uncertainty as to how many, if any, fans will be able to attend football games in the fall. Cooks and servers make up a large portion of Delaware North employees affected by those measures.

"The pandemic has proved longer in duration and more devastating than anyone could have predicted," Delaware North Chief Human Resources Director Eileen Morgan said in the letter. "This was an unforeseen business circumstance that renders us unable to forecast the precise timeline for business to resume to a level sufficient to return all of our associates to work."

The Buffalo-based company also stated that when business resumes, it would be recalling its workers.
