Aurora Health: COVID-19 pandemic is causing weight gain

and last updated

COVID-19 has kept many Americans indoors and has caused some health problems during the pandemic. Advocate Aurora Health says weight gain has also become a problem since the pandemic started.

New data from the COVID Symptom Study shows that snacking and drinking has increased in the U.S., resulting in five times more weight gain than the classic holiday period pounds.

The obesity management team at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital notes they've seen an increase in patients seeking help with weight loss.

Although open gyms are limited at this time, Aurora doctors recommend doing safe, at-home exercises to keep active.

Online workout videos have been a great way to exercise in the comfort of your own home. Thirty minutes a day will get you going in the right direction.
