MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewfest announced Friday that they are canceling their 2020 event due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The event was supposed to take place on Saturday, July 25 at McKinley park. However, beer lovers will now have to wait until next year.

According to a statement from the Milwaukee Brewfest, their team has worked tirelessly trying to figure out how to hold the event and follow social distancing guidelines. However, they ran into a speed bump.

"We found out today that ALL Special Event permits in the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County Parks have been suspended through September. Unfortunately, the current health crisis in the county makes this a tough but necessary decision," said Milwaukee Brewfest in a statement.

Many people have likely already bought tickets for the event, so Milwaukee Brewfest is now making those tickets valid for next year's event. That event is scheduled for July 31.
