Milwaukee Police say an officer shot and injured a suspect after the suspect shot at them Saturday night by 84th and Congress near Lindsay Park.
Assistant Police Chief Michael Brunson said it happened just after 6 p.m.
Officers were responding to a domestic dispute.
When they arrived, an armed man took off running and an officer chased after him.
Brunson said both the suspect and the officer fired weapons.
The suspect was hit and rushed to the hospital where he's being treated for a gunshot wound.
He is expected to survive, and is identified as a 34-year-old who was wanted on a parole violation for first-degree reckless homicide.
The officer involved has been with the police department for four years.
He’s on administrative leave pending a full investigation.
