A 53-year-old man died in an industrial accident at the Heartland Produce factory Tuesday morning in Kenosha .

The incident occurred about 9:15 a.m. when maintenance was being performed on the property, according to Kenosha Police.

A spokesperson with the U.S. Department of Labor said the worker, employed by A & R Door Services, was doing maintenance on a hydraulic loading dock plate when the plate hit him. The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration opened a fatality inspection to determine if there were any contributing violations.

"I was out this morning watering trees we just planted. I looked up and there’s a firetruck, an ambulance, and a couple of squad cars pulling in," said Chad Giles, who works at another business across the street from Heartland Produce.

"There are some workers, after the cops had done some interviews, they walked around, they were sitting in the grass very, very emotional," Giles said, "We all watched from here thinking somebody went to work and this was not in the plans and how sad it is."

Kenosha Police said the worker killed was a 53-year-old man from Kenosha. His name has not been released.
