Thursday is sunny with highs near 50

and last updated

Finally, the sun returned today and with that temps warmed into the 50s across the area. A few spots were almost 20 degrees above normal this afternoon. Tonight is clear and frosty with lows near 32 in Milwaukee and upper 20s inland with a light breeze. You get another mild December day on Thursday with sunshine and highs near 50. The southerly breeze will be 10-15 mph.

Enjoy the sunshine because it will be replaced with clouds on Friday from the first storm system in 2 weeks. High temps will be in the lower 40s and the rain will be here by late Friday afternoon and it could be heavy at times Friday evening and night. Most areas could see up to 1" of rain. Saturday starts with a wintry mix and then it changes to snow in the afternoon with highs in the mid-30s. There will be accumulation by Saturday evening: early estimates of 2-4" of snow are expected. Stay tuned because this will change due to the track of the storm and the timing of rain changing to snow. Sunday morning has lingering flurries, brisk winds, clouds and highs near 32. Wind chills will be in the teens all day. There is another chance for light snow on Tuesday.
