Wet weather before severe storm potential

and last updated 2020-03-27 23:39:39-04

Our drier weather is coming to a close with a warm front to our south we will see showers start to move in this evening, becoming widespread south of I-94 through 10pm. Then scattered showers and patchy fog are likely overnight across all of southeastern Wisconsin, most places pick up a quarter of an inch of rain tonight with higher amounts in the south and a steady low of 41 degrees.

Light rain is possible on Saturday morning with a bit of a lull in the action by late morning. The warm front gets really close to the Wisconsin-Illinois border so highs will climb into the low 50s but it will be cloudy and with the warm front in the vicinity we will see the chance for some severe storms mainly from 3pm-9pm especially in the south. The largest threat for us will be large hail and heavy downpours to lead to localized flooding so it's a good day to stay inside with rain totals climbing up to near one inch by the time we get through the day. To our south in Illinois there is a much better threat for wind damage and tornadoes, but those are lower threats for us here.

The back side of the low pressure swings through on Sunday, keeping us cloudy with light, scattered rain showers. The wind will be very strong on Sunday with gusts up to 35mph and a constant breeze between 15 and 25 mph. The sunshine finally returns as we get to Monday with more seasonal temperatures in the upper 40s by Lake Michigan and low 50s inland. We stay mostly dry on Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s with just isolated shower chances.
