Get the shovels ready: Snow is making a return this weekend

and last updated

We got to enjoy more sunshine today and highs in the mid to upper 30s before clouds rolled in by late afternoon. Those clouds will bring evening and overnight flurries with maybe a dusting of accumulation well north of Milwaukee. Despite the clouds, lows drop into the teens in the inland areas tonight, and 20 in Milwaukee. Saturday morning has a few flurries, otherwise the day is mostly cloudy with a high of 32 and a light breeze.

A bigger storm system will be here Sunday morning with snow showers all day that could mix with some rain and freezing rain by evening as temps rise above freezing. Right now we are looking at 2-4” of wet snow in Milwaukee, about 2” areas south of Milwaukee and 4-6” around Fond du Lac and Sheboygan. Sunday is also windy with SE gusts to 30 mph. We will melt some of that snow early next week with sun with a high of 31 on Monday, and Tuesday is sunny, breezy and 32. A light wintry mix will move into the area by Wednesday followed by colder air for Thursday and Friday.
