Rain continues overnight with snow Saturday morning

and last updated 2020-12-11 22:24:30-05

The storm that has been talked about for more than a week has arrived and is doing exactly what was expected: windy with cold rain for everyone with a few spots west and north with snowflakes mixing in. The temps are in the 30s, wind chills in the 20s and winds gusting to 35 mph. The rain continues this evening and overnight for Milwaukee with temps in the mid to upper 30s. That NE wind keeps the temps warmer near the lake. Inland areas could see 1-2" of snow overnight with temps near 32.

The wintry mix continues in Milwaukee and lakefront most of Saturday and then changes to snow with 1-2" of accumulation. Inland areas will see 3-5" with a few isolated spots near 6". The wind will be gusting around 40 mph all day and there will be some beach erosion and low-lying flooding near the lake. The wintry mess is out of here before 5pm and then it is windy and cold. The sun returns a little on Sunday along with a lighter wind and highs near freezing. Monday is sunny with highs near 30 and we stay in the 30s all week with flurries and light snow on Wednesday.

**A Winter Weather Advisory will begin late Friday and continue into Saturday for Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Dodge, Washington, Ozaukee, Walworth, Waukesha and Jefferson counties. 2-6-inches of snow are possible in this area, and strong winds will cause blowing and drifting snow. Visibility will be an issue on some roadways, and roads will become slushy and slippery.**

**A Lakeshore Flood Warning will be in place for the SE Wisconsin shoreline of Lake Michigan from Friday night through Saturday night. Waves will build between 10 and 13 feet, causing potential for lakeshore erosion and lakeshore flooding.**
