Swapping 60s for showers

and last updated 2020-03-08 18:29:58-04

It has been 139 days since we've had 60s in Milwaukee but the strong wind doesn't exactly make it feel that warm, even in the sunshine. Tonight will still be breezy with increasing clouds overnight and very mild temperatures in the mid-40s.

Grab the umbrella for Monday, or better yet the hooded rain coat because in addition to rainy weather it will also be breezy so the umbrella will be battling the wind. Look for hit and miss rain showers mainly after 6am, becoming more widespread and intense as the day progresses with the evening commute being the wettest one of the day, highs will be close to 50 degrees so this will stay as all rain. Most locations will pick up a half an inch or more from this storm system so there may be some ponding as the rain runs off our saturated ground and makes its way to the swelling rivers and streams.

Tuesday will start with some clouds but sunshine is expected by the end of the day with a cold front knocking temperatures down into the mid-40s, which is still above average for March. The wind will be lighter but it will be from the northwest with an afternoon lake breeze.

A quick hitting low pressure glides through on Wednesday to bring some light snow in the morning, mixing with sleet and rain by midday with highs barely hitting 40 degrees by the afternoon. Active weather continues on Thursday with just an isolated chance for a shower but temperatures warm into the mid-40s before the sunshine returns for Friday. Next weekend looks to have yet another storm system move through to bring a wintry mix mainly on Saturday but stay tuned with this active forecast.
