MADISON, Wis. - A University of Wisconsin-Madison student was arrested over the weekend for striking a UW-Madison police officer in the face.

WISC-TV reports police were called to the Witte Residence Hall at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday to investigate a report of someone urinating in the hallway.

Police said when an officer approached the 18-year-old male student, he became combative and hit the officer in the face.

When two more officers arrived, the student was taken to the ground and handcuffed. As he was arrested, he continued to try to fight the officers.

He is currently being held in the Dane County Jail. He was booked for battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and resisting causing injury.
