The Earth is about to get a showing of meteors lasting an entire month.
Beginning around April 20 and lasting through May 21, the Eta Aquarids will shower the earth with meteors. The best time to view them will be during the late hours and early mornings of May 5 and 7 during the new Moon.
This particular meteor shower is from the Earth passing through pieces of debris from Halley's Comet. They're called the Eta Aquarids since they appear to come from the Aquarius constellation.
This particular meteor shower will be more visible in the southern hemisphere, but don't write this event off completely if you live on the northern half of the planet.
The southern hemisphere can expect to see up to 30 meteors every hour while the northern hemisphere could see upwards of ten every hour.
