CAMBRIDGE, Wis. – A Wisconsin high school golf coach resigned Thursday after posting a series of racist tweets toward an African American NASCAR driver.

According to the Cambridge News,  Cambridge High School head boys’ golf coach Brent Nottestad directed the tweets at Darrel Wallace Jr. – who is set to be the only full-time African American NASCAR driver at the moment.

The Cambridge News reported that Nottestad tweeted, "Hey @BubbaWallace. Please quit with, 'I'm black' bs. You're terrible. There are 1423 more credible drivers to get that ride than you."

The number 1423 is often associated with the white supremacist group called the “Southern Brotherhood.”

Wallace responded and tweeted,  “Wow, I feel truly sorry for your kids. Again...to have so much hate towards somebody you've never met. Hope your kids grow up to be the exact opposite of a father you are…”

Cambridge Superintendent Bernie Nikolay says Nottestad's resignation was effective immediately.
