Frank Lamping of Union Grove was named the 19th member of the Green Bay Packers Fan Hall of Fame Tuesday.

Lamping, 60, who is a lifelong Wisconsin resident and Packers fan, was voted into the Hall of Fame from a group of nine other finalists, with more than 600,000 votes cast from fans around the world.

He was nominated by friend Don Schauf, who in his nomination essay detailed how Lamping skipped his cancer surgery to attend a Packers game, keeping his perfect attendance in tact.

“Beyond his devotion to the team, what qualifies Frank as the ultimate ambassador for the Packers is the way he embodies the Packers way,” Schauf said in his essay. “Frank continues to battle cancer, but at the same time has not wavered in his devotion to his community just as he has not wavered in his devotion to the Packers. He has not slowed in his volunteering or enthusiasm for life. Frank truly embodies all that is good about the Green Bay Packers and is unquestionably deserving of a position in the Fan Hall of Fame.”

Lamping also maintains a plot of replanted Lambeau Field turf in his backyard.

He will receive four club seats to a 2017 Packers home game, along with a pro shop certificate for $500 and a road trip package for a Packers away game including tickets, airfare and a hotel room.

Most importantly, Lamping will have his name permanently on display in the Packers Hall of Fame.

"I really want to get in there, I want my name in Lambeau Field, it's just an unbelievable dream of mine," Lamping said after learning about his nomination.

Lamping had called the opportunity “a dream come true,” even more so due to the fact that he is battling stage four prostate cancer.

The Union Grove community helped get out the vote for Lamping by hosting a pep rally in his honor last month, with residents lining up chanting “go Frank go!” in his final push to the Hall of Fame.
