A report says that one of the main cities south of Milwaukee will become a center for hockey, through the construction of a new downtown arena.

Mayor John Dickert's office told the Business Journal that the city is building a 3,000 to 5,000-seat arena, 130-room hotel and convention center.

The arena will house a franchise in the United States Hockey League, which also includes teams in Green Bay and Madison.

The project will cost $49 million in total.

Brookfield's Hammes Company will play a part in the construction of the first phase of the project.
