We've heard this scenario before: A team fighting for a playoff spot and riding a win streak. The Milwaukee Wave have won their last six games, and with just five games left in the regular season, every single one counts.

“We're trying to run the table but we're trying to get it all done,” described midfielder Ian Bennett. “We have to finish it off though. The Packers, they fell a little short, but we're trying to finish it off.”

Similar to the Packers, the Wave went through a rough stretch.

“We started like 1-3 so it was a little tough time, it was dark,” Bennett said with a laugh. “But now the light's coming up. There's a little bit of light.”

Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero says his team has the confidence and chemistry to succeed.

“Right now if I had to match up against the Milwaukee Wave, I'd be very nervous because these guys are looking great on the field,” Oliviero said.

The top two teams in each division qualify for the playoffs. Right now, the Wave are tied for second, but coming up, things aren't getting any easier.

“Lucky for us, we finish up at UWM Panther Arena for our last three games and those are very important games,” Oliviero explained. “It's Cedar Rapids, we're tied with Cedar rapids; Kansas City, they're ahead of us by one game; and Chicago, they're right behind us, so three, big divisional games to finish out the season.”

“So it's getting really tough right now,” Bennett said. “It's getting down to the wire but honestly, our division is hardest in the whole league and I think everyone knows that, so it's a really good fight. It's a good fight, a lot of good teams, a lot of good quality, so we're excited. We're accepting the challenge and I think we're going to do it.”

“You look at the Milwaukee Wave and where we've been,” the third year Wave coach explained. “We've won six championships, very rare that the Milwaukee Wave don't make the playoffs, so as far as our tradition goes, that's another thing that we make the new players aware of. This is an organization that's used to winning and we want to keep heading in that direction.”
