What was once the site of the Hales Corners Speedway is now a Menard's.
It's fitting that the site has a banner up for the Jim "Wildman" Classic on Saturday at Wilmot Speedway.
"I spent many nights here racing," said Phil Rehberg. "And underneath that tree, the drivers would have a beer or two."
"We contacted Menard's and they let us put up the sign on the old speedway grounds," Wildman Classic Co-Promoter Nick Simons said. "We didn't want anyone to not know about it and bring all the fans."
"Wilmot is probably the closest track to where Hales Corners used to be," Co-Promoter Steve Sinclair said. "So give Wilmot a shot."
Jim Watson spent most Saturday nights racing at Hales Corners before working in NASCAR. He sadly passed away of a heart attack nearly one year ago.
"He gave all he had, to the fans and kids," Rehberg said. "He gave all he had, for everybody."
You can remember Jim's legacy at Wilmot Speedway on Saturday.
