Sussex Hamilton came up big when it mattered most against Cedarburg, and that’s why they’re this week’s Frenzy Team of the Week.

“I'm usually a pretty calm, collected guy but I was going crazy,” described senior quarterback Jordan Smith.  “I was ecstatic.  Words can't even describe how I was feeling in that moment.”

That moment came in the final seconds.  After three turnovers, the Chargers found themselves down a field goal to Cedarburg.  What they got was a touchdown.

“It was the best feeling I had, probably the best football play I've ever had in my career,” said sophomore running back Jackson Kollath, who had the game-winning touchdown.  “I came up.  I caught that.  As soon as I made the end zone, I was screaming by myself.  To have my teammates come out like that, it was amazing... I remember them saying a lot of he's only a sophomore and there's just more to come.”

“It was one of the coolest moments of my life,” Smith said.  “Running down that field to congratulate him;  having the rest of the team out there jumping on him with only a few seconds left we knew the game was over right then and there.”

The two Sussex Hamilton stars of the game couldn't be more different.  Smith is a senior and returning starter, while Kollath is in his first year on varsity at a new position.

“Hopefully it's just a glimpse of things to come for both of them and we're very happy with their production so far,” said Chargers Head Coach John Damato.  “When it's time to respond, essentially you need to raise your game up and that's what they did.”

And as a team, they came together.

“One of our main goals is always to unify and to make sure we always give strong effort, have great attitudes and they displayed that,” Coach Damato said.

“I think it's going to give us a little luck here and there when we need it,” explained Smith of how the team will benefit from working together.  “A lot of things could have gone wrong at the end of that game, but I really think that if it comes down to it, we'll have a little luck on our side that will help us out if we really need it.”
