BELOIT — Beloit Baseball needs your help picking a new name.

In 2021, Beloit Baseball will be getting a brand new ballpark so what better way to celebrate than with a new name too.

The team asked for name nominations back in August and now they've narrowed the list down to five. However, they want your help picking one.

You can head to the Beloit Baseball website and vote for one of five names. The options are:

  • Beloit Cheeseballs
  • Beloit Moo
  • Beloit Polka Pike
  • Beloit Sky Carp
  • Beloit Supper Clubbers

Each name represents a part of Wisconsin or the Midwest. While some are pretty self-explanatory like the Beloit Moo (we have lots of cows) and the Beloit Cheeseballs (cheese capital), others may need a little more explanation.

First, the Beloit Polka Pike. According to the Beloit Baseball website, "Wisconsin residents have been tapping their toes to polka, the state’s official dance, as long as they’ve been pulling fearsome pike from the Rock River. Grab your accordion and your fishing pole and head to the ballpark where every night will be a music-filled festival as the Polka Pike pay tribute to the river that neighbors the stadium and the state’s history.

We also have the Beloit Sky Carp which is "a slang term for a goose that would rather stay home in Beloit in the winter than migrate south. The Sky Carp name whimsically represents the future of our city, a flourishing, innovative town so strong that no one wants to leave."

Finally, the Beloit Supper Clubbers. "Just like our new ballpark will, supper clubs serve as a popular gathering spot for families young and old, offering great food, great music, and great times night after night."
