Pregame story
Nearly two dozen football players' hearts will break within the 43 hours after the Packers' preseason finale in Kansas City.
That's because GM Ted Thompson, Coach Mike McCarthy and their staff will decide that those players simply aren't good enough to beat their competition for positions on the team's final 53-man roster.
Those athletes, and many others, will get one last chance to make a final impression on the coach, GM and their staff tonight in Kansas City.
Jobs are at stake at numerous positions - and though specific offensive and defensive positions will be decided (eg. wide receiver, safety, linebacker, running back - almost everything but quarterback in most probability), special teams performance may be the decider in many cases.
Thompson will be reacting, though, to not just their performance. He said Tuesday he'll be watching facial and body reactions to understand athletes' mental states to see if they can take the pressure of the NFL in key games.
This is a key one. For many people's livelihoods.
