To say Waukesha South football has had it rough is an understatement.

However, 2018 could prove to be the year of the Blackshirts.

"After the game, we were all just tired but we are happy to be coming off our first conference win in four years. So it's great," said Jacob Pilon, Waukesha South outside linebacker and receiver.

A victory in 'Week 1' over Oconomowoc stood for much more than a notch in the win column. It proved the process was, and in a sense always had been working.

"For years I've been saying ignore the scoreboard. Do your job, do it to the best of your ability, trust your teammates and the wins will come," said A.J. Raebel, Waukesha South Head Football Coach.

Now that this team has the ball rolling, the Blackshirts plan to turn heads every week in the Classic Eight Conference. Next up, Waukesha West.

"It's been too long since we've been on top. The last really successful season was a very long time ago. West is a must win. We're going to come into that game, give it our all and we leave everything on the field," said Isaiah Garcia, Waukesha South receiver.
