After a historic playoff run in 2017, it's safe to say that the guys of Martin Luther football came into this season with high expectations.
"We definitely came in talking as seniors, talking as a team, that we're not taking no as an answer," said Darios Crawley-Reid, Spartan running back and safety.
So far that mentality has paid off.
"It's really fun because last year we were 0-3 to start the season and that was a turning point. This year we are 3-0," said Brad Kulinski, Spartan receiver and linebacker.
Heading into week four the Spartans are undefeated. Even rain that forced them inside this week can't break their focus.
"The rain can probably stop us from going outside, it's not going to stop us from practicing and it's not going to stop us from doing what we can do best," said Darios.
But this Friday, a true test presents itself in Racine Lutheran.
"They beat us last year but this is not even close to the team that they played last year. You can't compare the two teams," said Brad.
The Spartans have outscored their opponents 143 to 29.
Meaning the question isn't if they have the weapons, it's if they have the fight.
"We do have a lot more tough things to come, but it is a lot of fun. This is a fun group of guys and they are very tight, they are very good friends, it's a joy to work with them," said Rick Hoppert, Spartans head football coach.
