MILWAUKEE -- It's not often the opening of a parking garage is celebrated – but after a year of limited parking many are rejoicing over this new structure opening in downtown Milwaukee this week.
The Milwaukee Bucks are officially opening their new 5th Street Parking Structure on Wednesday, November 1. It’s the first of the Bucks’ downtown development project to open to the public.
The 1,250-space parking structure is located directly across the street from the new Bucks arena and the Bucks' training facility, the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Science Center.
Bucks President Peter Feigin told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that “they’ll give tailgating a shot” and might even put grills on the top floor of the structure.
For more than a year, parking has been limited near the BMO Harris Bradley Center with the construction of the new Milwaukee Bucks arena. The old parking structure at 4th and Highland closed at the beginning of October 2016.
