MILWAUKEE- When the owner of Too Much Metal For One Hand, Fred Gillich wanted to celebrate Giannis Antetokounmpo's birthday he leaned on a 1978 classic: Grease for inspiration.
"It's taking from the old and adding to the new and we get Giannis," Gillich said.
The 23-year-old Buck's player may not know anything about the movie Grease, but Fred hopes he gets the joke.
"I actually played around with it. I said what if we called it "Greek Lightning," maybe conjugates the right way. And I'm like that is not funny enough," Gillich said.
So playing on Antetokounmpo's homeland Greece and his lightning speed on the court, Gillich came up with the slogan: "Greece lighting."
Wednesday night when the "Greek Freak" hits the court he will see a sea of blue instead of green in the fan section behind the basket.
Gillich donated more than eighty shirts to the fan section. He even made sure to add one or two for Giannis.
" I did give him a couple of big extra sizes tall dude. I hope he wears them I would love to see him wear it..... I hope he has an amazing game because of it," he said.
Gillich is also realizing he may just have something with his to Giannis.
"The irony of this a lot of Greek Milwaukeeans have bought this shirt not knowing anything about the movie just the simple fact that someone came up with the phrase."
The Bucks are also finding a way to celebrate Giannis' birthday with a special two games for $23 ticket offer for Dec. 6 only.
Bucks fans can get tickets to the upcoming game against the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 15 and a choice of a second game of either the Dec. 22 game against the Hornets, or the Jan. 5 game against the Raptors. You can unlock this sale of two games for $23.
