After losing out on the sweepstakes for Manny Machado, they could be looking to the next-door AL team for talent: The Minnesota Twins’ Brian Dozier.

MLB reporter Ken Rosenthal tweeted Wednesday, “Among the players the #Brewers are expected to target now that they have lost Machado: #Twins 2B Brian Dozier. Team also will explore pitching upgrades as well.”

Dozier is batting .230 with 16 home runs and 48 RBIs this season. He was named to the All-Star Team in 2015.

No word on what the Brewers would need to give up to get the second baseman.

The Brewers were in the hunt for the Orioles’ star infielder Machado until Tuesday, when it was announced he would sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Brewers are sitting two and a half games back of the Cubs in the NL Central at the All-Star break.
