Gennett played four seasons in Milwaukee, appearing in 456 games. He batted .279 with 160 RBIs and 35 home runs during his time with the Brewers.
With Gennett out, Jonathan Villar will mostly likely start at second base. Newcomer Travis Shaw, a former Boston Red Sox infielder, will take Villar's old position at third base.
