The pressure is on as Miller Park gets ready to host the first two National League Championship Series games at home and the grounds crew is putting in extra hours to make sure the field is ready.
"From the wall pads in is our responsibility," said Michael Boettcher, Director of Grounds.
Boettcher said keeping the surface consistent for the players is their top priority.
"We gave a nice haircut to the field this morning. We're just managing our moisture," said Boettcher.
Mother Nature is one of many challenges.
"So with her and the short timelines that has been the divisional win and then into the postseason play here it's really given us short timelines to flip the field from a regular season game to a postseason play," said Boettcher.
Major League Baseball sent the Brewers stencils to help change over the logos. There are other added features that go into this round of postseason baseball that might not be as obvious.
"I think it's actually everything that's going on around the field," said Boettcher.
For instance, crews will mic up the bases for better sound and the outfield will look a little different.
"We put a little bit more intricate pattern in the outfield for the fans to look at when they come out here for postseason," said Boettcher.
There are five full-time guys with the grounds crew and about 40 more who help on game days. The field is almost ready for first pitch.
"We're just excited to be playing baseball in October, having a field ready for play and we"ll see where this goes," said Boettcher.
