The Brewers may be starting the season in San Diego, but it didn't stop the organization from sharing the fun with their fans here at home.

Thursday morning, more than 50 members of the front office were out in the streets of Milwaukee and the surrounding area handing out special envelopes on the windshields of cars. Inside, fans would find a "Greetings from San Diego" Postcard with a handwritten note from one of several players including, Corey Knebel, Domingo Santana, Zach Davies, Travis Shaw, Chase Anderson and Eric Thames.

"These are handwritten notes the players have done that are on postcards," Kathy Schwab, Senior Director of Marketing for the Brewers said. "It's kind of a 'Wish you were here' type of thing."

But it was more than a kind note. They also included a "This is my Crew" sticker and four free vouchers for tickets to a game in April.

"We want to come out and cherish our own fans here in Milwaukee," Schwab said. "We love our fans. We're so happy that we can come out and celebrate with them and be out in the community and say, hey, you're the biggest part of this."

It was quite the way to start a Thursday morning. People who were on a morning job, getting ready to go to work or start their day were surprised to see the Opening Day gift.

"I think it's nice," Deonte Moses said. "Building a bond with fans and getting them to come out."
"That's great," Tom Schafer said. "The kids will like it. I think we'll have a good time. I like rooting for the home team and going to the game with the family is fun."

For other fans, whether they had the free vouchers or not, they were going to be out to support the Brewers. Greg Powell says he's been a fan for roughly 30 years, through thick and thin.

"The good times are really good and the bad times aren't so bad because that's my team," Powell said. "This is pretty cool because you got a smile on my face and that's not easy to do."

The Brewers are also running a promotion to get free tickets to the home opener on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Those who received the special package on Thursday had a "This is my Crew" sticker inside. For those who post their sticker to social media with the hashtag, #SeeUApril2, they'll be entered to win two free tickets to the home opener.
