MILWAUKEE — Rowdy Tellez, Brian Anderson and Garrett Mitchell hit consecutive home runs off Max Scherzer in the sixth inning, and Wade Miley earned his 100th career win as the Milwaukee Brewers routed the New York Mets 9-0 on Tuesday night.

Anderson and Mitchell also connected for back-to-back homers in the seventh off reliever Brooks Raley. The hot-hitting Anderson, who homered in Monday's 10-0 victory over the Mets as well, had a two-run double in the first against Scherzer (1-1) and finished with six RBIs.

“I think I just got some mistake pitches over the plate and I was able to put good swings on them,” Anderson said. "Obviously, it’s going to be hard to keep up that pace all year, but it’s just a good feeling in the clubhouse right now.”

Anderson and Mitchell became the first pair of teammates to hit back-to-back homers in consecutive innings since Javy López and Andruw Jones of the Atlanta Braves did it on June 13, 1998, against the Montreal Expos.

“As a team, we’re clicking from top to bottom with everyone from veterans to rookies,” Mitchell said.

Miley, who started just eight games for the Chicago Cubs last season due to elbow and shoulder issues, made his season debut for the Brewers. He started 16 games for Milwaukee in 2018, compiling a 5-2 record. The 36-year-old lefty rejoined the Brewers in January when he signed a $4.5 million, one-year deal with a mutual option for 2024.

“I’m so blessed, 13 years to put a uniform on," Miley said. “You go through your ups and downs. I had a stretch midpoint in my career where I honestly thought it was over.”

Miley (1-0) pitched six sharp innings, giving up five hits. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter.

“He pitched six wonderful innings tonight and he did it just in kind of his style and how he does it,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. “Worked fast, balls going both directions, changing speeds, front-back, in and out. It was really a clinic in pitching.”

Three relievers completed an eight-hitter, handing the Mets consecutive shutouts for the first time since June 2021 against Atlanta.

The Brewers beat New York for the 17th time in the last 20 games at Milwaukee.

Milwaukee tagged Scherzer for eight hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings. The only other time the three-time Cy Young Award winner gave up three successive homers came in July 2017 with Washington at Arizona when David Peralta, AJ Pollock and Jake Lamb went deep in the first.

“They came in with a good game plan," Scherzer said. “They did a couple things that showed that they were thinking differently today.”

It was the first time Brewers batters launched three home runs in a row since Aug. 8, 2018, when Jesús Aguilar, Travis Shaw and Eric Thames pulled off the feat against the Padres.
